Do you ever walk into a large beauty store like Mecca and Sephora and feel totally overwhelmed by all the different products available on the market?

Which person are you?

1. Do you study who is wearing what and what is the best foundation on the top 10 list of Elle, Cosmo or Mecca at the time?

2. Do you order your products online because you’re worried what the sales women would say if you chose the same product Adriana Lima wore in her last Victoria secret shoot!

3. Do you look for all natural ingredients?

4. Do you buy whatever is on sale as you can’t possibly think of spending 100’s of dollars products that may or may not work?

Whichever consumer you are you are not alone!

I have been a successful makeup artist for 12 years and even I rely on what we are told through brand marketing and who is wearing what in a photo we all know has been totally photo shopped lol

I also stalk all celebs and ensure I have all the products necessary to look exactly like a super model lol

I do love a natural product, I also love active ingredients (we all want to look those few years younger). But I especially love a good sale if it is product I love and use all the time!

When I am purchasing a product I am sometimes swayed by beauty bloggers experience and always do my research on what others use not even thinking about the kick back these famous Instagram influencers are receiving by saying that “this is the best product on the market today!”

Don’t get me wrong I can defiantly tell a quality product from those cheap imitations but unfortunately I have purchased products that just aren’t the right fit for me as a consumer because I have believed what influencers are telling me.

NEEDS AND WANTS

Pigment, quality ingredience, full moisture, ensuring a fresh glow, matt finishes, full coverage, medium coverage, high-definition, age defying and the list goes on. These are all our wants and needs when purchasing a beauty product.

The one thing I have learnt throughout my career as a makeup artist is that each person has their own unique needs, wants and what they do and don’t like.

My first question to my client when discussing makeup options is what are you wearing today?

I believe beauty is like a pair of shoes, a handbag or a piece of jewellery it is an accessory to any good outfit!

If your day to day life consists of wearing business attire you wouldn’t match your outfit with joggers would you?

Now think of your skin care and makeup routine as a wedding dress. Most of us get married in a white dress yeah?

Although we are all in white why do we somehow all end up looking different?

The products used to create the dress or fit... satin, silk, chiffon, lace is different. The length fullness fitted appearance is different, even the shades of white...cream, eggshell, ivory is different. The designer or brand is different. The way the dress falls on your body shape is different.

My point is...

Your skin and life is totally different from the next persons so why would you need the same products as that celebrity influencer? We all are unique and need to celebrate who we are as individuals!
